Here what Mr.Balamurali Krishnan has to say about this event.
‘Black gold’ that’s what Sundar Subramanian calls his soil. he doesn’t allow any food waste to escape from his house, instead he does composting.
‘soil with moisture content is the best quality u can get whether it be in a terrace garden or in a farm’. he says. he prepares it diligently putting it through a composting process completely in organic way. he proudly says every few minutes ‘என் மண்ணு ‘
A bio-diverse organic terrace garden, he has lots of vegetables, flowers, herbal plants even sugarcane and banana tree.
He made us take an oath not to send any waste out from our home, instead do composting and grow an organic farm in any tiny space available at home.
Superb learning experience on Terrace Gardening and Compositing ! thanks to TWA @ Organic Terrace Garden.
TWA team request people to start composting your kitchen waste. How many have heard “Divine Compost“? We use flowers flowers for pooja and throw them after a day. Many use those flowers to make compost of it and grows plant with them. In Delhi Sai Temple there is “World’s 1st ‘Flower Reprocessing’ Machine” where they are reprocessing upto 1,000 kg of used flowers. As a result of this project, within a month 14000 kg of used flowers were prevented from being dumped into Delhi’s Yamuna river.
So if you are staying in a community apartment or you area is surrounded with many holy places where you can get lot of used flowers, please set up a community compost bin or ask those temple / appartment authorities to start making compost. There are many places in Chennai where people has initiated this kind set up.
For example Sri Ananthapadmanabhaswamy Temple in Adyar, Bala Vinayagar Kovil in Turnbulls Road have started this “Divine Composting” and and Community composting. Isn’t these inspiring and why can we start one at our home first?
Start composting by using a small container or else you can visit Daily Dump or Eco Bin, where you can get compost bins in all sizes. Below you can find a small video on how to make compost of your own easy. Happy Composting and Happy Growing 🙂
