TWA Participating in Daan Utsav ( Joy of Giving )

Last week Daan Utsav ( Joy of Giving ) organized a press meet where Sunny (a TWA  volunteer) represented on behalf of  The Weekend Agriculturist.

What is Daan Utsav ?

Daan Utsav, Joy of Giving, an event that is expected to be held between 2  and 8 October. This is their 7 edition and along with TWA many other organisation like Ekam foundation, Oriental Cuisines, Sheetal, Talent Quest, etc will join hands with Daan Utsav and Spread Joy of Giving.

Sunny said “Those who have time during weekends can join the weekend agriculturist group. It is a city-based group that lends its hand to farmers in neighbouring areas like Tambaram, Pakkam and Thindivanam. Students, software engineers and working professionals can contribute their time and effort towards helping farmers in their land. The experience will help volunteers learn about the nuances off farming.” So volunteers please block your calendar and make sure you join hands with TWA on Oct 3 and Oct 4.

Ekam foundation said, “This year, with the support of volunteers a large-scale hospital clean up drive is planned. Antenatal wards, corporation hospitals, post natal and paediatric wards, toilets and the surrounding environment of many hospitals will be cleaned.

Narendra Malhotra, CEO of Oriental Cuisines, said, “All those working in the corporate sector yearn to help various causes as part of Daan Utsav. Like last year, French Loaf and La Chocolatier will be making the longest photo cake. They will pay a tribute to award winning Tamil movies. The event will be held at Forum Mall, Vadapalani on Sunday at 4 pm.

Sheetal, Academic Coordinator of Eurokids Chennai, explaining Eurokids’ plan for this year’s Daan Utsav said, “Close to 4,000 students will be drawing and painting cards to thank people in their neighbourhood, like policemen and auto drivers, for their daily contributions. Moreover, a Daan Utsav collection booth will be setup outside schools. Items like stationary and clothing can be dropped off in these collection booths. On October 8, these items will be donated to local organisation that are in need of resources.”

Rama Subramian from Talent Quest of India said, “This year we have over 150 student volunteers in 26 districts who will spread awareness and conduct community campaigns in their respective hometowns.”
